Discoverers & Explorers
In the 0-2 Room, our youngest learners are welcomed into a warm and nurturing environment where they can feel safe and supported. Our program focuses on building strong, secure relationships while fostering early development through sensory play, gentle exploration, and activities that build fine and gross motor skills. Daily routines like feeding, nappy changes, and rest times are carried out with care and consistency, helping each child feel confident and comfortable as they learn and grow at their own pace.
Discoverers (6 weeks – 1 year)
Our Discoverers are at the very beginning of their learning journey. In their first year, children are absorbing the world through their senses — watching, listening, touching, and responding.
In this nurturing environment, our Educators focus on building strong, secure relationships that help babies feel safe and confident. Through gentle interactions, sensory exploration, and responsive care, we support each child’s early development and sense of belonging.
Explorers (1 – 2 years)
Our Explorers are curious, energetic, and beginning to assert their independence. At this stage, children are developing language, mobility, and social awareness.
We provide rich opportunities for movement, discovery, and early communication, all within a safe and supportive environment. Our Educators guide children as they find their voice, take new steps, and build confidence in themselves and their world.
The Adventurers & Investigators
The Adventurers (2-3 Years)
Adventurers are imaginative, inquisitive, and eager to test their ideas. They love to investigate, create, and explore their surroundings.
Our program encourages curiosity and problem-solving through hands-on experiences, play-based learning, and meaningful interactions. We support each child’s growing independence while nurturing their creativity and sense of wonder.
The Investigators (3 – 4 years)
Investigators are deep thinkers who ask “why” and “how.” At this stage, children are developing stronger social skills, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Through intentional teaching and engaging environments, we encourage children to experiment, research, and share their ideas. Our Educators foster a love of learning while supporting emotional growth and positive peer relationships.
The Navigators
The Navigators (4-5 years)
Our Navigators are preparing for their next big step — school. They are confident learners with strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development.
We provide a structured yet play-based program that supports school readiness, resilience, and independence. Children are encouraged to collaborate, solve problems, and take ownership of their learning journey.
The Researchers
Our Before and After School Care program provides a safe, welcoming space for Tinonee Primary School children to start and end their day with confidence. Mornings are calm and relaxed, helping children ease into their school day, while afternoons are filled with fun, engaging activities, outdoor play, and opportunities to unwind or catch up with friends.
During school holidays, our Vacation Care program keeps the fun going with exciting, themed days, creative projects, and excursions that spark curiosity and adventure — all in a safe and supportive environment.
Researchers (School-Aged Care – up to 12 years)
Researchers continue their journey beyond early childhood with curiosity and growing independence.
In our school-aged program, children are supported to explore new interests, develop critical thinking skills, and build meaningful friendships. We create a balanced environment that values both relaxation and enrichment, allowing children to thrive before and after school, as well as during vacation care.
What is the difference between long day care and preschool?
Long day care centres provide full-day care for children and operate year-round, typically catering to working families who need extended hours. Preschools usually follow school terms and offer shorter, session-based programs focused on school readiness for children aged 3 to 5. Many long day care centres, like those in the Taree region, integrate preschool programs within their broader curriculum, combining the flexibility of full-day care with structured early education.
How do I know if a childcare centre is right for my child?
Choosing a childcare centre comes down to more than just convenience. Look for a service with qualified, experienced educators, a strong focus on safety and communication, and learning programs tailored to your child’s age and stage. Visiting the centre, observing how children interact, and asking about daily routines and values can give you a good sense of whether the environment suits your child’s personality and needs.
What qualifications should childcare staff have in Australia?
In Australia, childcare educators must meet minimum qualification requirements set by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). This includes Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. Many centres also employ Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs) with a Bachelor of Education. You can ask about educator qualifications and ratios when touring a centre to ensure your child will receive high-quality care and attention.
